Aglow is a non-profit international Christian women's organization designed to fulfill the following purpose:
- To introduce women to Jesus, especially those not reached by commonly used methods of evangelism, by sharing the whole gospel of Jesus to meet the needs of the whole person.
- To bring women to a place of restoration that they may discover their true identity in Jesus, be filled with the love of Christ and all the fullness of God, and be equipped with the ministry gifts of the Holy Spirit to do the work of the ministry.
- To assist women in worshipping, praising and glorifying God in all areas of life and to train and to equip women to minister effectively.
Aglow International began in 1967 in Seattle, Washington, USA, when four women expressed a desire to meet together as Christians without denominational boundaries. From an initial luncheon meeting of about 120 women, Aglow grew into an international ministry on six continent and in nearly 170 nations of the earth. Now there are Aglow meetings, retreats, conference and/or conventions held regularly all around the world.
The name Aglow comes from Romans 12:11 in the Amplified Bible: "Be aglow and burning with the spirit". Primarily focusing on prayer and evangelism, Aglow women seek to bring women to Christ to strengthen their Christian walk. In cooperation with local churches, Aglow women hope to make a positive difference in their communities by helping meet practical and spiritual needs, and by bringing a Global vision from a Biblical perspective.
